Prof Alexander Dömling

Telesis Pharma BV.

Alexander Dömling has been holding the chair for Drug Design at the University of Groningen since 2011. He studied Chemistry & Biology at the Technische Universität München and obtained his Ph.D. under the guidance of Ivar Ugi. After a postdoc under a Humboldt fellowship in the group of the Nobel Laureate Barry Sharpless he founded the biotech company Morphochem and latest Telesis Pharma BV. After his habilitation he worked as full professor at the University of Pittsburgh in the School of Pharmacy. His interests are centred around multicomponent reaction chemistry (MCR) and its application to problems in drug design. His special focus is on MCR centred pharmacophore methods, structure-based drug- design and MCR centred fragment-based-drug-design. He is the author of more than 200 scientific articles, reviews, book contributions and patents. His long term vision is to bring a novel drug to patients in an indication area of unmet medical needs.

16:00 Instant Chemistry to explore new chemical space

  • Instant Chemistry allows for the one-step synthesis of complex small and medium sized molecules in unprecedented scaffold diversity

  • Instant Chemistry allows to tap into a very large chemical space

  • Novel artificial macrocycle scaffold will be disclosed

  • Applications of Instant Chemistry Space towards protein protein interactions will be discussed

  • Telesis offers custom synthesis of large libraries (103-104) allowing Pharma to efficiently tap Instant Chemical Space
